GauNiti & GauDhan are an exemplary use of Blended Finance to solve a deep socio-economic problem. It is the primary stalwart of Conscious Capitalism approach of the Nahar OM Family Office. It takes a holistic view of the issue of income security of the farmer, the climate impact of methane emissions in the dairy and rice farming sector, the social ethos of preservation and upkeep on Indigenous cows which are the symbol of Mother in Indian scriptures. Gauniti & Gaudhan has 3 pillars to the business model. The most compelling one entails a deep tech approach to Climate Finance. It involves deep scientific research on various climate technologies that can intervene into this massive problem statement (Total Methane emissions from dairy/cows in India is XYZ which is equivalent to ABC CO2e equivalents). This includes a range of technologies including wearables and seaweed food additives. Whilst there are many research studies on this efficacy of Seaweed, none have been conducted on indigeneous varieties of seaweed in India or applicability to indigeneous conditions.
Our vision is to incorporate a company with Sec 35 benefits and carry the Indian business community as a cooperative towards this vision. India has one of the largest cow population and the most distributed network and requires unique approaches on both product development but also product distribution of climate technologies in an efficacious manner. (We need to add on rice methane reduction technologies as well).To solve the distribution problem we have the support of the other two pillars. The second pillar is efficacious distribution of working capital to the dairy farmer for feed additives, fodder. It entails a completely digital credit underwriting system supported by not just normal financial data but also alternate data such social geographic data and telecom data.
We entail the use of the FPO as a unique model of asset leasing, where the cow as an asset belongs to the FPO but is leased out to the farmer for milk production. The whole ecosystem of loan distribution is cashless and frictionless involving direct distribution of loan amount to food supply companies and cattle supply companies and collection from the milk collection booth. The final pillar is the simplest of the 3 business models to deliver however it ties it all together in a unique model of blended climate finance that is unique to the Indian ecosystem. This is a uniquely Indian business model made for an Atmanirbhar Bharat. The third pillar entails a digital platform where proud nationalistic Indians steeped in Indian spirituality and suibscribing to Sabka Vikas, Sabka Saath, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas will donate digitally to the Gaushalas of their choice and affinity.
